My Interest In Instructional Design and Technology

I became interested in Instructional Design and Technology after working with K through 12th graders teaching them how to use different technologies. It was then that I realized I wanted to train people in the use of current technology. When I moved to the Chico area, an opportunity to earn a Bachelor's degree became available, and I took it. While in school, I continued expanding my experience by training at the Technology and Learning Project at CSU Chico for nearly 2 years. I enjoyed both my schoolwork and working down in TLP. I gained a special appreciation for web design after designing and developing a special training project for interns at TLP and helping to re-design the new Communication Design web page for CSU, Chico while I was enrolled in the intermediate web design class. While learnin web design, I also was enrolled in a Flash class. I fell in love and knew that I would someday develop instructional materials using both my web page and Flash knowledge.

I am interested in Instructional Design/course development not only because it is fun, but because it offers the latest trend in training - online. I enjoy developing using Articulate along with Adobe Flash and occasionally Captivate. All of my skills including my web design techniques will benefit any company I work for when producing training and/or instructional materials. Correct usage of all of these mediums put together with my ability to learn quickly is a win-win situation for employers.


Hopes and Dreams

I would love to telecommute and work directly from home, but I am happy in a work environment as well. I have started out my career working in the educational field and hope to someday work as a consultant knowing that I will travel where the work is. This does not bother me because I love to travel. Using web design and publishing along with Adobe Flash will give me the opportunity to create specialized training as well as create quality products with value and passion with the added bonus of living anywhere I like.
